What kinds of AION 2 addons exist
AION 2 has no built-in mod support, so everything players call addons or plugins is an external program running in its own window on top of the game. They come in a few flavours.
- Boss and event timers. When field bosses, the Rift, Watcher Kaira, the Siege, Invasion and the Shugo Festival start, plus daily and weekly resets. A good one also reminds you in advance.
- Interactive maps. Numbered teleports, bosses, cubes, gathering, traces — best when the map opens right over the game, not in a browser tab.
- Server status. Maintenance, starting, open — and your ping to your server.
- DPS meters. They count combat damage by capturing the game's network traffic — more on the risk below.
Which ones are safe
The key question for any tool in an online game is what it does to the game itself. A safe tool:
- doesn't change game files or inject into the game process;
- doesn't read game memory;
- doesn't capture network traffic;
- doesn't press anything for you.
Timers, maps and server status can be built without breaking any of these — the data comes from public schedules and the game's website. A DPS meter has to see damage, so every known AION 2 DPS meter listens to the game's packets through a capture driver; their own authors say "use at your own risk". Your call — just know the difference.
AION2 Status only works the first way. The step-by-step check is on the Safety page, and the network and update code is public on GitHub.
What the free AION2 Status addon does
- Timers for field bosses (live player feed) and every event, with separate Daily reset and Weekly reset rows.
- Reminders 10 minutes and 30 seconds ahead — a sound and a card "starts 20:00, 10 min left".
- A map over the game — Altgard, Verteron and the Abyss: teleport numbers, countdowns over bosses, the route from the nearest statue around water, hidden cubes, gathering and traces.
- Server status and ping: maintenance, starting, "you can log in".
- Four looks: a big window, a compact in-game panel, a top bar (Premium) and a single button.
- To chat — copies "Kaira in 12 min, Abyss" so you can paste it into game chat.
Everything except the top bar and map search is free.
How to install
- Download AION2-Status.zip and unzip it anywhere.
- Run AION2-Status.exe. If Windows shows a blue SmartScreen window, click "More info" → "Run anyway".
- Pick language, faction, server and look — done. Set the game to borderless windowed so the addon shows on top of it.
After that the addon updates itself: when a new version is out it offers to update, and you can keep playing meanwhile.
Frequently asked questions
Are there addons for AION 2?
Yes, but they aren't mods — they're separate programs drawn over the game: boss timers, interactive maps, server status. AION2 Status is a free addon that puts all of that in one window.
Where do I download an AION 2 plugin?
Get AION2 Status from this site or from GitHub: a zip with no installer, Windows 10/11. Unzip and run AION2-Status.exe.
Can I get banned for using an addon?
AION2 Status never touches the game files, process or memory and never presses anything for you — it's a regular Windows window over the game. The risk sits with tools that capture the game's network traffic (that's how DPS meters work).
Is there an interactive AION 2 map in-game?
Yes: the Altgard, Verteron and Abyss map opens over the game with Alt+M — numbered teleports, bosses, rifts, cubes, gathering and the route from the nearest statue.
